behind the mansions
back fences drowning under
a tide of ivy

Great haiku, Andy! The weed warrior in me wants to rip out every vine and bag the persistent H. helix. But it is impossible to stem the tide, for even the smallest cutting can re-sprout. English ivy can literally choke a tree to death by robbing it of sunlight and nutrients….I’ve even seen trees fall over from the accumulated weight of the vines! Enjoyed the imagery:) Hope you are having a pleasant weekend!
